Bartın University (BARU) achieved significant success by being placed in the 1001-1200 band in the overall ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, ranking 16th in Türkiye. In the “Research Quality” category, BARU was ranked 624th worldwide and became the top state university in Türkiye.
Bartın University continues to enhance its international visibility through its high-quality academic output and achievements. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, prepared by one of the world’s most reputable university ranking organizations, have been announced. Evaluated across multiple performance indicators, BARU once again demonstrated its academic strength at the international level.
Among 2,191 institutions from 115 countries included in the rankings, BARU successfully maintained its position in the 1001-1200 band despite the increase in the number of participating universities. In the national rankings, BARU shared 16th place with six other universities, out of a total of 109 in Türkiye, marking a notable achievement.
BARU Becomes the Top State University in Türkiye in Research Quality
In the THE rankings, compiled on indicators such as teaching, research quality, research environment, international outlook, and industry engagement, BARU ranked highly both globally and nationally. According to the list, BARU was ranked 624th worldwide and 4th in Türkiye in the “Research Quality” category. Moreover, as in the previous year, BARU maintained its leading position among state universities in this category.
BARU Increases Its Scores in Three Categories
BARU improved its scores compared to the previous year in the categories of “International Outlook,” “Industry,” and “Teaching,” thereby advancing its overall position in the rankings. In the “International Outlook” category, BARU rose by 156 places to rank 1,236th worldwide. In the national rankings for the same category, BARU ranked 27th in Türkiye and 8th among state universities. In the “Industry” category, BARU ranked 1,982nd worldwide, moving up 14 places. Additionally, BARU was ranked 1,346th in the “Research Environment” category and 2,092nd in the “Teaching” category.
